Mr Pickwick / ChairTom RokerThe esteemed leader of the club, usually for a season before being succeeded. It is the position that all members aspire to. Ensures harmony, good fellowship and smooth running. Encourages all to participate and keeps in contact with members unavoidably prevented from attending, especially those afflicted by illness or misfortune.
Vice ChairAlfred JingleAssists/deputises for the chair at all meetings.
PresidentBenjamin AllenMentor of the club. Has usually held all offices and knows exactly what is required for the good of the club and its members. Brings his considerable knowledge on protocol to bear when necessary. Any ambitious new member should cultivate him.
Honourable SecretaryBenjamin AllenThe most arduous and yet most satisfying officer role. Holds all club archives, corresponds with members and venues. Supplies agendas and supports the chair as required. The font of all knowledge on meeting protocols.
TreasurerDodsonResponsible for the finances of the club and collection of money from subscriptions, raffles, fines etc. Pays all accounts, keeps an account of all cash transactions and submits statement of accounts and report at the Annual General Meeting.
Director of CeremoniesJem WardleSupervises at initiations, introduction of members to visitors and votes of thanks to the chair and vice chair. Toastmaster on all big occasions. Should possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Papers.
Minutes WriterMivinsRecords declarations (profound and otherwise), great and not so great orations, events and all that happens at a meeting in a truly Pickwickian manner. A joy to all members, particularly the Secretary.
Fines MasterReverend StigginsCustodian of that most valuable possession of the club, the fines box. Responsible for ensuring that all fines levied by the Chair are paid (and in sterling currency). At each meeting, totals the fines collected and passes the cash to the grateful Treasurer.
Pickwick Official Reader and InterrogatorJem WardleA very important office. The role of interrogating members on an extract from the Papers is a recurring feature of club meetings. Requires much preparation and an attractive and lucid reading.
Mace BearerJob TrotterA ceremonial role to be proud of. Must pay full attention to proceedings at all time, else a dim view will be taken by the Chair.
WebmasterJem WardleResponsible for the creation and maintenance of the club’s website which acts as a reference point for members and a repository for meeting minutes.
Entertainments OfficersJingle and Benjamin AllenA creative mind is essential for this role of proposing and overseeing the club’s highly-anticipated outings.
PhotographerFoggTakes the lead in photographing for posterity, the members and their regalia. Ensures that all photos are passed to the Webmaster.
